Roses in Christian Tradition

Introduction

My high school English teacher is a middle-aged, fat man. You cannot image that he is a romantic person according to his figure and appearance. But he is. He enjoyed reading the poem “A Red, Red Rose” tohis students whom were just at the age of having vague ideas about roses and love. But from the bottom of my heart I loved that poem. At that time I promised to myself I would study this poem deeply and thoroughly when I entered the gate of university. Probably it is the trigger why I choose English as my major. However, one yearafter my college life I did not touch that poem again. The turning point which promoted me to pick it up was the moment I converted to a Christian at my sophomore year. I started my spiritual life, reading the Holy Bible. The more I read the Bible, the more I wonder why roses have such an important stand in Christianity. In my paper, I will explore the emblem of roses in Christianity.
